Scheduling: Expected to work every other weekend, every other holiday where applicable.
Block booking and Schedule patterns are based on department needs.
Guaranteed hours: 40
Orientation hours: 12; Guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation.
Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory at a level that generally can be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Work requires a minimum of four months intra-operative orientation and on-the-job training to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines; to develop proficiency in use of medical equipment and instruments used on assigned unit; to learn nursing care and quality assurance standards; and gain an understanding of the types of patients cared for intra-operatively, their needs, and effective nursing interventions. Further team specific orientation may require additional education and on-the-job training.
Floating: Will float to other surgery teams within the surgery department, to include pediatric surgery, orthopedic surgery, neuro surgery, and the multispecialty teams.
