Guaranteed Hours: 36
Floating: May float to L&D and take care of a stable couplet once repair is complete and baby is stable, or may float to Pediatrics or NICU and serve as an extra set of hands. Pediatrics has a low average daily census.
Patient population is couplet care (Mom + Baby) and stable antepartum patients.
Will rotate working in the nursery; will go to the OR and help with skin to skin and will be the baby nurse while Mom is in recovery. Will provide breast feeding support. May be responsible for managing post partum patients on magnesium sulfate drip.
Ratio is 1:3, but will adjust if patient is an unstable magnesium sulfate drip.
Shifts: Will work 3-4 (12 hour) weekend shifts on a 28 day schedule. There is self-scheduling in Women’s Services and will be given to the staff first, then travelers. The Director and leaders will then balance the schedule based on experience and skill set.
Scrubs: Any color of professional scrubs. No other facility names or logos permitted on the scrubs.
Orientation: Will accommodate start any day of the week. Will start in Human Resources and complete paperwork and obtain badge, next onto Occupational Health for Respiratory Fit Test and then will meet with Nursing Education to complete appropriate testing for their unit. All RNs will take a medication test the first day. After testing, will go to the unit to finish their shift with a Clinical Preceptor.
