First to float -Region I: Primary to Virginia Mason Medical Center, but if needed, travelers will be required to float throughout Region One: St. Anne Hospital – Burien, WA; St. Francis Hospital – Federal Way, WA; Virginia Mason Medical Center – Seattle, WA
Must have strong neuro skills!
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Seizures, strokes, neurosurgeries, renal transplants, lumbar drains, art lines. Continuous EEG set up by EEG tech- instructions on cart once set up.
Experience or 'Must have' skills: Progressive care trained. Neuro experience preferred. Highly prefer art line and lumbar drain experience. First time traveler okay for day shift.
Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes- PCU will titrate. Med surg RNs won't take cardiac drips.
RN is expected to be able to read/interpret a strip. Philips monitors are used
Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts per schedule at minimum. May need to flex to more if staffing is tight (the rarely happens). For days shift weekends are Saturday and Sunday. For nights weekends are Friday and Saturday.
Holiday Requirements: Yes- expectation is to work holidays as needed for fill in holes.Esp on nights.
Is there call or a standby requirement?: No
Floating Requirements: Yes- Neuro PCU, acute care MS, rare to CCU to care for PCU or med surg level of care. First to float.
Scrub Color/Dress code: Royal blue, white and/or grey- any combination. Scrubs not provided. No hoodies, sweatshirts or sweat jackets.
