Patient Types:
Neonate to Geriatric, busy LEVEL III trauma center. Pediatrics (25%) Administer TPa.
All ER diagnoses. Busiest ED in the state. Pediatric Traumas. Ship out: neurosurgery, traumas, peds patients
Skills Required:
Able to set up chest tubes, art lines.
Assist with Trauma and Code cases.
ER skills, Critical patients.
Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred.
Splinting. Good understanding of ESI.
Triage experience required.
Orientation: Hospital NEO then will work the remaining shift with a preceptor on the floor
1-2 shifts on the unit with preceptor support (will have their own patient assignment but have a resource buddy)
Shift / Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: Yes, every other weekend. (may work back-to-back weekends, rare) Looking for flexibility.
On-Call: No
Holiday Expectations: They can be scheduled on holidays, 1-2 holidays per contract.
ED has two shifts we post DAY/EVE which consists of these shifts 7a-7p, 9a-9p, 10a-10p, 11a-11p. And EVE/NOC which consists of these shifts 12p-12a, 1p-1a, 2p-2a, 3p-3a, 7p-7a.
Usually do not bounce around these shifts; however, it makes it easier to move them around when the need of the unit or the staff member warrants
When the word MIDS is used, it technically means early mids (7a to the 11a shifts) and late mids (12p to the 7p shifts).
Schedule cycle: 6 weeks in advance for a 6-week schedule
