Experience with Epic is required.

  • Neurosurgery, Post spine surgery, neuroscience, stroke and epilepsy, ortho, pre-op. post-op

Special Procedures:

Special Equipment: :

  • Per nurse manager: We prefer some neuro/cva and also either orthopedic or neuro surgery.
  • Fast paced unit. We do not do general med surg, it is neuro specialty. But we will take travelers who are med surg with experience floating to neuro or neuro surgery.

Communication: SBAR

Work Settings:

Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response:

  • Telemetry- remote monitoring, Use of Rapid Response Teams (PREFERRED)

Gastrointestinal:

  • Colostomy care, Feeding tube care and management (REQUIRED)

IV therapy/Phlebotomy:

  • Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Phlebotomy, PICC line management, Starting IVs (REQUIRED)

Medications:

  • Heparin, Insulin, PCA (REQUIRED)

Neurological/Psychiatric:

  • Pre/Post Neuro Surgery (REQUIRED)
  • CVA, Spinal cord injuries, Traumatic Brain injury (PREFERRED)

Plastics:

  • Surgical drains (REQUIRED)

Respiratory:

  • Nasal Cannula, Oral suctioning, Tracheostomy Management (REQUIRED)

Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac (REQUIRED)

Float: yes, Acute Rehab, Telemetry, Neuro Telemetry; to meet unit needs that meets scope of practice.

Requires Skills: CVA and either ortho or neuro surg exp

All candidates who were a previous perm employee of ANY Providence affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a min of 3 months to qualify for a travel position. No exceptions.

Floating: All travelers are expected to float to another unit within their scop of practice if needed. The facility has a designated float team that floats first however, in the event there is a need at another campus travelers will float first before perm staff. All facilities are within a 40-mile radius or less. In the event that the traveler needs to float, it their responsibility to find transportation to the facility they’re floated to. Traveler’s refusal to float may result in termination of assignment and/or forfeiture of guaranteed hours.

References - Extremely important to have on file prior to submittal. MUST COVER 1 YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT within the last 3 years. The year does not have to be consecutive. Client will not give clearance without full year of references on file.

BLS must be AHA (Instructor, Provider, or RQI) or “Heart&Stroke” certification from Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation ONLY.

If you have a multistate/compact nursing license, you will be required to complete a one time 6 hour suicide prevention training according to the WA state regulations. (Nursing positions only).

RTO must be listed at time of submission.

All positions at Providence Health & Services require that any and all lab items requested during onboarding be completed within 72 hours of signing a contract - no exceptions. This means candidates must be responsive and willing to go to a lab to complete health orders ASAP after signing. Failure to comply may lead to a pushed start or cancellation as assessed by the facility.
