Strong Neuro skills required.

Areas of Float Support: May be floated to other "like" general care areas.

Common Diagnosis/Treatment: Seizures, TBI, trauma, muscular dystrophies, encephalitis, neurosurgical (VP shunt, hydrocephalus, craniosynostosis),guillain-barre, chronic genetic disorders with a seizure component, overflow med/surg.

Special Procedures: routing nursing (LP assistance, MRI accompaniment, ivIG infusions etc.).

The nurse must be willing to work a rotating shift, 36 hours per week every other weekend and a holiday.

This unit also performs gene therapy infusions for SMA and will often participate in clinical drug trials.

Some of the conditions treated in this unit are Hydrocephalus, brain and spinal cord tumors, Intractable epilepsy, Spina Bifida, Craniofacial Disorders, brain and spine trauma, spinal deformity/scoliosis, concussions, ADEM, Ataxia, Brain Abscess, Chiara Malformation, closed head injury, Encephalopathy, Encephalitis, Guillain Barre, Hydrocephalous, Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, Neurofibromatosis, Macrocephaly, Moyamoya, MS, Pseudo seizures, shunt replacement/revision, sleep disorders, stroke, Tethered Cord, Tuberous Sclerosis, VNS Insertion/Malfunction, convulsions, AIM, Febrile Seizure, Cerebral Palsy, cyclical vomiting, etc.
