Experience with Epic is preferred.

Additional Details:

Qualifications: Minimum of twelve months of experience in oncology, preferred experience in either PCU/Stepdown

Contract Duration: 26 to 39 weeks with the potential for a permanent role at the conclusion of the contract.

Job Description:

  • Nurse-to-patient ratios adjusted based on acuity.
  • Flexibility to float to different units within the same specialty is expected.
  • Regular work schedule includes 36 to 40 shifts per week during orientation and 36 shifts afterward.
  • Rotating day and night shifts, alternating every 4 weeks as needed.
  • Availability to work weekend shifts on an alternating basis is mandatory.
  • Consideration for first-time travelers will be given.

Patient Focus:

  • Strong dedication to fulfilling the full contract term, participating in upskilling, orientation, and expanding knowledge of oncology.
  • Willingness to obtain chemo competency.
  • Access to resources for reviewing ONS Chemo certification course materials.

Required Skills:

  • MS/TELE experience.
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
  • Knowledge of Rapid Response Teams.
  • Competency in gastrointestinal care.
  • Proficient in feeding tube care and management.
  • Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy.
  • Previous experience with blood product administration.
  • Understanding of peripheral line care and management.
  • Proficiency in starting IVs.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in oncology, specifically in inpatient oncology and/or outpatient chemo infusion center.

All candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the ohio fingerprinting process. Candidate must complete fingerprints as soon as they sign contract. Travelers who are unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing are at risk of push/cancel. All candidates who are currently outside the state of Ohio but within driving distance will be required to drive to a fingerprinting location in Ohio as soon as possible after booking. Travelers who are extreme distances from Ohio will be mailed a fingerprinting packet, which is to be completed urgently upon receipt. Detailed instructions will be sent to the candidate by the Credentialing team.

Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location

RNs- must have valid compact or state license in hand at time of submission.

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30), Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
