Monument Health blackout dates for RTO are 8/1/24 - 8/18/24. Any RTO or special requests not included on your application will NOT be considered.

Patient Ratios: PCU RN will work through all areas below: Long length of stay (MedSurg/NO Tele) - 1:5-6 1 pod with 10-12 patients Med Surg/Telemetry: (no IMC drips) – 1:5 2 pods with 10-12 patients each Intermediate Care – 1:4 1 pod with 8 patients – this could be Med/Tele patients vs IMC
1st time traveler MUST have EPIC experience
Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
PCU RN: Comfortability to take MedSurg assignments Previous experience with above-mentioned patients, including IMC/stepdown and neuro (can float to ONS); ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, wound care, line management, drain/tube management, drip titration of below medications Drip Titration: please ensure nurse is comfortable with the following – Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives
Floating: If yes, where? Any Adult Inpatient Unit - Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, Observation Could be floated within scope of practice and below Will float in rotation with other travelers
Scheduling:
6-week schedules
Weekend rotation: Travelers could be scheduled for up to 4 out of the 6 weekends, which include Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? No mandatory call time. If it is an extra shift on top of their already guaranteed hours, and we have enough staff then they could be placed on call for that shift.
Holiday Expectations: Currently not accepting RTO requests during holidays – send RTO requests to manager for approval around winter holidays
Approval of time off? Ok to approve up to a week and a half – must extend if taking a full week off. We do have blackout dates from August 1-18th (exact dates change each year) due to our Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. No time off is approved during this time.
