Requirements
Experience
Travel experience is required.
24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience is required.
3 months of experience with Cerner is preferred.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a Maine license or compact license

Additional Details:

Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.

RTO and shift requests will not be accepted after submittal.

Guaranteed Hour: 48

26 weeks is preferred but not required.

RN: 2 years of Med/Tele experience – no exceptions

Patient Types: Surgical: Bariatric: Gastric Bypass, Gastric sleeve Vascular Surgeries: carotid endarterectomies, femoral endarterectomies, amputations, AAA repair, peripheral artery bypass grafts, fem-pop bypass
Urology: TURP, cysto, cystectomy, penectomy, nephrectomy, ureteral stents General/GI: mastectomy, breast reduction; hemicolectomies, exploratory laps, bowel resection, cholecystectomy, colorectal surgeries; whipples Ortho: total joint, ORIF, external fixation, Ortho Trauma ENT: parotidectomy, neck dissection, and thyroidectomy Plastics: muscle flaps, skin grafts Neurosurgery: spinal fusions, laminectomies, craniotomies

Medical Overflow: CHF, Pneumonia, COVID, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, GI Bleed, Chron’s, Vascular Gangrene, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, etc. All beds have remote Telemetry monitoring capabilities

Skills required: RN: Please ask all travelers about charge experience and include in the offer info if they have/have not worked in a CRN capacity

Telemetry experience (Cardiac rhythm interpretation) – will not transport patient on Tele but must be able to verify/interpret strips on the unit

General post-surgical experience is a MUST

Vascular surgical patients comprise a large portion of our patient population. This person would need to have the basic knowledge of what to look at and for (assessment-wise) with this type of patient.

Ortho post-op (total joints, ORIF) experience is preferred, peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, Trach Care, Chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, drain management and removal (JP, Accordian), dressing changes, wound vacs

Comfortability to discontinue non-tunneled catheters, will wean patients off Epidural pump per order set, PCAs

Heparin Drips, Insulin Drips; NO cardiac drips or cardiac push meds

Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other; occasionally back-to-back weekends – flexibility is key

On call? No call

Holiday Expectations: manager approval

RTO approval: Must be sent to Manager for approval

Schedule cycle: 4 weeks at a time; will receive 2 weeks in advance

Scrub Color: RN: Any color, must be professional
