Experience

36 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience is preferred from any number of months.
Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.

No RTO will be approved during the following dates: Mother’s Day Weekend: 5/10 - 5/12 Memorial Day Weekend: 5/24 - 5/26 Father’s Day Weekend: 6/14 - 6/16 Fourth of July Weekend: 7/3 - 7/7

Shift Start Time: 6:40p

Patient Types: A lor ot high risk pregnancies. Laboring patients, Scheduled Inductions, Scheduled Cesarean Sections, High Risk Patients (Magnesium Sulfate Patients, Preterm Labor Patients, Diabetic Patients, Postpartum hemorrhage), Hyperemesis Patients, Cerclages, NST’s, ~20 week gestation. Cervidil induction.

Rarely transfer patients oue due to level III NICU

Looking for very experienced LDR RN, due to the high volume of complex high risk patients. Mother baby experience highly preferred.

Patient Ratios: AWHONN guidelines - but also flexible and dependent on staffing; Typically 1:1 - i.e pts on Pitocin; 1:2 - Pitocin + triage or cervidil; 1:3 - stable antepartum or triage; Mother Baby: up to 6 patients, either 1:3 couplets or 1:6 moms

Skills required: Circulating cesarean sections, Mother baby (Couplet Care), Catching babies, will need to know what to do for the first hour. Experience wil all the high risk patients (shoulder dystonia, emergent c section, post partum hemorrhage, preterm on Mg, pre-eclampsia)

EMR: Cerner Maternity OR surginet; Paper charting: once baby is delivered (about 3 sheets)

Floating: If yes, where? Yes, Mother Baby. Basic assessments. Documenting feeds/wets. Expect to know how to draw bili, if needed. Admission RN available during daytime that will do PKUs

Orientation: 3 shifts in LDR & 1 shift in Mother/Baby

Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other weekend; On call? No mandatory call; may have low census call; Call back time; 30 minutes

Holiday Expectations: Yes, 2 of 3 holidays per contract (Thanksgiving, Christmas, NY)
