Must be PCU level nursing, willing to float to MedSurg / Telemetry
Will accept first time traveler only if they have previous float pool experience and 2+ years experience, otherwise travel experience required.
Permanent staff must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler
Patient Types: This is a float pool position floating routinely between: Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Medical, Progressive Care Unit, Oncology, and Heart and Vascular – all units are mixed acuity and will have Intermediate to MedSurg level patient types
Could be floated within scope of practice and below. If traveler is competent to float to other areas, such as ICU, that skillset may be utilized
Common Diagnoses include but are not limited to: Orthopedics / Neuro (Stroke, Transient Ischemic Attack, etc.) / Surgical / Medical (Urinary Tract Infection, / Pneumonia, Failure to Thrive, etc.) / Intermediate Care (Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, End-stage Renal, Alcohol Withdrawal, etc.) / Oncology / Heart and Vascular (Chest Pain, Heart Failure, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, etc.)
Education Requirement: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing. BSN required.
Must have experience with titration of all drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levo, Dopamine, Insulin
Cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, Blood product administration, CIWA, drain/tube management, indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management, continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube maintenance
Experience with Cardiac procedural recovery (CABG/TAVR/post Cardiac Cath), MI pharmacology, Heparin gtts
EMR: Epic – if not experienced, please seek manager approval to offer
Hired into straight shift – see availability for posting; could potentially split shifts
RTO: Up to 7 days – must extend to accommodate a 13-week contract
No time off during annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (first 2-3 weeks in August annually)
Weekend rotation: Every other
No on-call.
Holiday expectations: Every other
