Department: LDRP / Level I Nursery and OB unit - Float to Medsurg/Peds
No clinical involvement
Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: 1:2 couplet, then change if laboring
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Preeclampsia, cholestasis of pregnancy, repeat Cesarean sections, stabilize baby for transport
Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have Labor and Delivery, Nursery, and some newborn stabilization experience, will float to medsurg/peds
Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, amp and gent for babies
Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: No - there is a coordinator for the hospital and some days an OB coordinator that can help out
OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: No - we are a level I nursery
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: On rare occasion, but it is the doctors responsibility

D/N Rotate, weekends/holidays as needed, first to float
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0645-1915, 1845-0715 // Self scheduling, will fill in schedule where there is a need
Weekend Requirements: Will fill in where there is a need
Holiday Requirements: If there is a need will work holidays
Floating Requirements: Will float to medsurg /peds and occasionally to ER if comfortable
Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy
How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1 week
RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
