Experience
24 months of Intermediate Care Unit experience is required.
References
Candidates must provide 1 manager/supervisor reference from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
Candidates must provide 1 charge/lead reference from within the past 24 months in order to be considered for this role
License
Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license

Additional Details:

Previous perm staff must be gone for 2 years before they are eligible to return in a traveler capacity. No exceptions.

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Guaranteed Hours: 36

Day/night rotate (traveler preference), weekends as scheduled.

Holidays: Travelers must be flexible if they need them to work holidays; however, they don't usually have to work many holidays as they are typically covered by the perm staff.

Nurse-Patient Ratio: The goal for ratios is 1/4; however, they are usually running 1/5. Occasionally could be 1/6

Scrub Color RN's: Navy blue top & bottom, navy scrub jackets, no hoodies

Floating: All staff are required to float as needed into the rotation (Tele or MedSurg) w/ ratios up to 1/6, possibly 1/7 in MedSurg (not common) Also expected to go to Pandemic Unit

Common diagnosis/Types of patients: Chest pain, r/o MI, CHF, Arrhythmias, post pacer, pre/post Caths (manage radial bands & remove but do not pull sheaths), groin checks, any other overflow patients that required intermediate care acuity, they rarely get chest tubes. They also manage patients on Tikosyn therapy.
