Experience
12 months of Emergency Department experience is required.
Experience with Cerner is required.
References
Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role

Additional Details:

Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.

RTO and shift requests will not be accepted after submittal.

Guaranteed hours: 48

26 weeks is preferred but not required.

Experience? 1-year minimum ED experience in Level 2 Trauma Center – ask permission to waive this requirement if strong Level 3 experience

Patient Types: All ages (Neonate to Geriatric); Closest Trauma center to Acadia National Park & Mount Katahdin (end of Appalachian Trail); unique acuity within the ED; fast paced;

Multispecialty – Medical/ Cardiac/Neuro/Ortho/Trauma/Interventional; DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem trauma, Respiratory Failure, Renal Failure, COVID, ETOH, IVDA;

Mental Health (Adult and Peds) – common diagnoses include, but not limited to: ETOH, IVDA, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Suicidal Ideation, Depression, Anxiety; Stroke requiring intervention, spinal precautions;

STEMI, NSTEMI, Heart failure – not certified cardiac center but one of the (2) centers in the state for cardiac events (Portland, ME is other)

MOAB (strongly preferred), CPI is also accepted (strongly preferred).

Skills required: ED RN: Trauma experience is an absolute must; Ventilator management, critical care drips/titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, measuring cardiac strips, drains, chest tubes, hemodynamic lines: Art lines/CVP, stroke experience (TNK administration), Conscious sedation, assisting with splinting, US guided IV’s (preferred)

Scheduling: Weekend rotation: Potential to work every weekend (Days: Sat/Sun; Nights: Fri/Sat); Can we approve time off? To go through manager; Holiday Expectations: varies, based on unit needs

Scrub Color: Any color, as long as professional

Floating: ED RN: No inpatient floating required (will float between Triage, Psych, Trauma and Holding routinely)
